I read that Alpha wants the rich to pay the same percentage of taxes as the middle class. I'll even go farther than the other poster who said the top 1% pay 37% of the taxes. The top 10% pay 90% of the taxes!!! I don't see how anyone can ask them to pay more dollars when so many choose to use the govt. for their well being when they could work. Some really need assistance and we should be a kind people and help but many are abusing the assistance.
If the top earners pay 4% in taxes but in dollars it is 50 times the amount that a middle class person pays then they are helping 49 times more than that middle class person to pay for law enforcement, road maintenence, etc. Additionally these rich people are making jobs available to put more people to work which will further increase the taxes collected by the government.
Our problem is that to many people live off the govt. because they can, not because they have to.
