Recent images? This morning 10:00 US CDT the first three "Recent Images" listed in the group Nippon were dated: 2011/03/31; 2011/04/23; 2009/09/22. I would have thought that the most recent images would have been the most recent images posted, starting with the newest. What possible algorithm could yield this result? It's not just this group. All of my groups list similar hodge-podges of old images as "Recent".

"Recent images" referes to "Recently added to this group", that's why a picture that has been uploaded months ago can be the latest in this group.
A few months ago we actually still sorted by upload-time - but then people complained that newly added uploads to a group would only appear on page 20 of their group...
The current behaviour is actually more consistent.
