wtf is the deal with CSI??
are they cops or scientific analysers? they can't be both. in one scene they'll be interrogating suspects, then another scene they'll be looking at blood soaked socks under a microscope and digging up bullets in an autopsy, then finally they'll swarm the suspect's house .45s drawn and take him down.

what is the extent of their job???

hahaha..very good observation!!
I am a CSI (for real) and a gun carrying cop too.
All we do is deal with the scene and evidence, the interrogation and arrests are left to the investigating agencies. The TV CSI guys are way too involved to maintain their supposed neutrality in the situation.

"An elite team of police forensic evidence investigation experts"

So they're a team of forensic evidence investigators. Who work for the police. And thus are police.

"Although some detectives are also registered CSIs, this is exceedingly rare in actual life."

Basically the same thoughts as you had.

Law & Order is the closest thing to real life.

And what kind of CSI office would be that dark. Each room has like one light on and the rest is bathed in blue light. They would constantly be screwing up evidence cause noone can fucking see shit.

Yes it's "fantasy", but for gods sake gimme some reality in my fantasy, you can only take the absurd so far before it starts looking absurd, and CSI looks absurd.

Now if you will excuse me I need to break out my Inframicrothermoneurooscilloscope and check for some evidence.
