"Hitler-style gun control" actually expanded gun freedom. This was done well after the Nazis were already in power. They didn't need to use force. He had the political suavity to win at the election booth. The only gun control Hitler was in favor of was in regards to conquered people.
A citizen militia is little more than a collection of fanatics. These groups often spout off that they are here to stop the government should they decide to take our rights away. A noble but misguided notion. The truth is that they stand little to no real chance of fighting off the well-armed, highly trained forces of a government. Ask the Branch Davidians from Waco how that worked out.
