Tornados are scary, scary things. You don't really have a clue where they are going to strike until they do, and there is absolutely nothing anyone can do to stop them; my family spent an hour in our downstairs bathroom, covered with blankets so that if our home was hit, we at least wouldn't be killed by flying debris. We lucked out- all we lost were a few shingles, but a lot of people lost everything they had in a split-second. That's especially sad, since our local economy is in the tank with double digit unemployment.

It is really true that tornados sound like freight trains- I can personally vouch for that observation since I heard it.
