I say it is time for the people of the US to take back the principle that no-one has a bigger say than anyone else in a democracy. That no one person should be able to veto decisions made in the lower house.
By the way, Elizabeth II is the monarch of many countries, not just the brits. But you knew that, right?
I don't like the idea of royalty either but the key advantage of the british monarchy is that Elizabeth II never interferes with the democratic process in any of the countries in which she's head of state. It's like having a permanent, neutered pr�sident that can't screw things up. Putting up with occasional media coverage of her short-arsed, over-privieleged offsrping is a price worth paying.
Instead we have prime ministers whose election is directly tied to the election of lower house government - so we don't see the mess of a majority for one party in an uppoer senate and for another party in the lower house. Yes, you can still end up with a dickhead in charge but overall it's a much better system.
Simply, if the nations got rid of the single monarch then there's the danger they'd replace them with a set of pr�sidents.

You have to ask yourself if the Queen is only the nominal head of state and has no real say in what laws her government passes, what use is she. None. The British like to keep the royals around because it reminds them of empire and privilege they once enjoyed. Now, in the 21st Century, they do as they're told by the Americans of all people.
The royals are a waste of time and money. This wedding apparently is being paid for by the Queen and Charles [lies being fed to the public] but, the taxpayer is picking up the security bill, which by all accounts will run into the millions. Not only that but, when this fuck-wit becomes king, the taxpayer will have to keep him and the other little parasites Wills and Kate produce in the life and luxury they've grown use to but never had to work a day in their privilege little lives for.
