The true joke here is, that, since a father would have recognised if it was his own daughters voice or not, it is quite obviously clear, that he did not recognise it was not his daughter, but the daughter of a stranger, which indicates that the strangers daughter was similar enough to his daughter to be her twin sister, meaning, her having the same father - possibly, the alleged 'uncle'.

AT THE SAME TIME the strangers daughter did not recognise it was not her fathers voice, which might tell us that the stranger and her father were similar enough to be twin brothers, which might point to incest references. (Although, children don't always recognise the voices of people known to them when heard over the telephone.)

The fact that the father could not tell the difference between his and a strangers daughters voice may also indicate that the father was under influence of perception-altering substances, of which alcohol is quite common to be applied and ingested in the form of fermented beverages, telling us OP failing at telling the joke properly, like, missing to mention that the father was calling in drunk he would come home late, because he was invited by friends. LOL!
