I think that you can see who is using your internet if you check who is currently connected through your settings. Aside from that, I would definitely use a password to connect.
Aside from that, yeah - it's very easy to see if someone is biting off of your internet...if the user is even moderately adept at using a computer! It's just a matter of checking your connection for a few seconds, then wonder why "JohnDoe" is connected to your system!
(PS: Most people that leave their internet signal open are idiots to begin with, so, if you're asking because you want to bite off of your neighbor's signal - use it, and have a nice day! LOL! He/She will probably never know. If you're asking because you're trying to protect YOUR internet signal, learn how to use a password! ;-) )
I don[t think these guys understand. Yes, you can track a computer connected to someone else's wifi. No, it is not easy. The majority of users would not be able to find your exact The farthest they would get would be the location of the modem and router. However, if you are switching between their wifi for certain things and yours for normal use, people with the know how could send MAC sniffers to find your MAC address which is hard-wired into your network adapter.once connected to your network, they could then look up your modem. There are of course work arounds to this.... google MAC spoofing
