I dunno about 'allowed', I mean, have you read the bible? There's hardly anything that isn't a sin. It's almost impossible not to be a sinner unless you live in a cave.
That's generally why people are baptized. To cleanse their sins.
Not only that, but a lot of Christians believe that EVERYONE is born a sinner.
They believe that every one of us shares the sin of Adam and Eve.
If that's what they want to think, why should I care?
