@Kelfromhel Hi, thanks for asking. I insert my cock head through the hole in the bottom of the plastic container then tip the crab and the seawater from a glass jar I keep him in.
I top up with a little more fresh sea water. With the cold seawater on my cock head it tends to partially numb it. Initially the crab was very shy but after 20-30 mins he became curios and approached the cock head, prodding it with his claw. After a few minutes he began biting the cock head.

@grumpacek No, to be quite honest these little guys do a good enough job. When they start eating they tear off quite large chunks of skin and flesh. A larger crab would decimate the cock head very quickly.

@Superworm I wouldn't say they are gentle, they tend to haul themselves around the cockhead with their sharp little feet, sometimes drawing blood, and they grab the skin and flesh with their claws to create a fold that they can bite into with their sharp mandibles.

That's just a mud crab that I caught using a piece of raw meat as a bait in a harbour estuary. He was quite shy to start with but eventually thought my cock head looked a tasty morsel.
